Entry 5: December 28, 2007
A quick blog entry, to wrap things
up. My last one will be Saturday after the game.
I'll keep this one short, since my moxy and focus
are definitely up for this game.
First, the luncheon today was a great success. I
think the UConn Marching Band came out and drew
first blood. Well done guys. The highlight of the
day must have been when the MC thought it would be a
good idea to let the starting left offensive tackle
for Wake Forest get up and sing a song of his
choosing. I'll be posting the video on YouTube
shortly, and you can be the judge of his
performance. You are obviously wanting my opinion on
the subject or you wouldn't have made it this far in
the "Rob Lunn Blogging Experience". All I can say is
this, God bless that young man for having the nerve
to get up there. But that is of little significance
considering the weight of the game.
Some random thoughts:
With our new stadium and our new training facilities
our program is truly top notch. So one thing I
cannot figure out for the past four years is why we
only have one mustard packet in every boxed lunch we
get. God help you if you squander the precious
contents of that little yellow piece of heaven,
cause on the team bus or in the hotel those things
are as good as currency.
I need to issue a general apology for the grammar in
my previous blog entries. Much to the horror of my
mother (the school teacher), my sister the law
student, my other sister the high school teacher and
a sweet woman who approached me in the hotel
elevator (also another teacher), I have not been
spell checking or even proof reading these. Common
mistakes have included "our" instead of "are",
“theirs” instead of "theres" and other things of
that nature. My apologies. It is not a reflection of
my UConn education or my family, its just me trying
to squeeze these entries into my busy bowl schedule.
I have truly enjoyed having everyone come up to me
and comment on the blog. I'm glad everyone is being
kept entertained. Scott Lutrus has been a tremendous
sport about the whole thing. I told him he could
"guest-blog" on this one, but he was too busy on the
phone chatting with Governor Rell, another resident
of Brookfield. More on that here:
http://www.youtube.com/v/mEJL2Uuv-oQ&rel=1.
Big ups to the kids at the Charlotte Latin School
and their athletic department for letting us use
their facilities all week -- top notch hospitality.
I’d also like to point out that despite what Dan
Davis tried to insinuate at the luncheon today, he
never had six pack abs. Neither did his little
brother Alex Polito. They don't do sit-ups in
Plainville.
I want to encourage everyone to get rowdy tomorrow.
We will bring our A-Game, so you all bring yours.
It’s bed time for this guy.
Talk to you tomorrow.
Best,
Rob
